No pain, no gain

I bruised my butt this weekend racing children's tricycles. My team won so it was totally worth it.

Santa Cruz half marathon

I learned a valuable lesson today: don't sign up for 1/2 marathons if you're not going to have time to train before hand! Given the fact that I almost died, I actually did better than expected:

Stinson Beach 12k

Now, I probably should have attempted a trail run before I signed up for this race, but that's not how I roll. Instead, I dove right in and got my ass kicked by this very challenging trail -- the good news is, I survived!

Here are the stats:

Happiest race on earth

I ran my first half marathon at Disneyland on Sunday Aug. 31, 2008 and walked away (pun intended) with only a slightly sore knee and slightly sore hips (not too shabby for someone who, prior to this race, never ran more than 7.5 miles)!

2:23:44

Distance 13.1 miles
Clock Time 2:43:29
Chip Time 2:23:44
Overall Place 4300 / 10849
Gender Place 1896 / 6407
Division Place 341 / 1125
Age Grade 45.8%
5K 37:30
10K 1:10:54
15K 1:44:28

Now that I know I can run 13 miles non-stop, and enjoy doing so, I want to sign up for another half marathon and shoot for completing the race in two hours! :)

My Results

I know the following stats aren't that impressive, but I'm proud of myself -- that has got to count for something, right?
  • On Sunday May 18, 2008, I completed Bay to Breakers 2008 in 1:21:48.
  • I came in 7,089th place (22,439 registered runners were participating).
  • I ran the entire race without stopping.
